COACH

HEATHER ABBOTT

Dr. Heather Abbott is an Assistant Professor in the Kinesiology, Recreation and Sport Department at Indiana State University, where she works with aspiring exercise scientists, physical educators, coaches, strength and conditioning professionals. She is a certified NSCA CSCS and USA Weightlifting Advanced Sports Performance Coach. She has worked as a sport scientist at the East Tennessee State University Olympic Site, helping a variety of Olympic hopefuls reach their competitive goals. In addition to her work at ETSU, Dr. Abbott supported the US Women's National Field Hockey team in the years leading up to the 2016 Rio Olympics. She possesses a strong foundation in programming and monitoring for a variety of athletes, however, her specialty lies in the complex programming of field sports athletes. In her never-ending progression to enhance her knowledge, she is currently training as a powerlifting and developing a team at ISU. In addition to her current powerlifting endeavors, she has trained and competed as an Olympic Weightlifter and DI field hockey player.
